Please read the Rules, especially: 1) Content must have sources; 2) Our tone is less formal than Wikipedia but still essentially encyclopedic; 3) Do not contribute positive information, only criticism. 4) Content must be fact-based. This is a wiki, a user-editable database, devoted to explaining the flaws, drawbacks and problems to various options. What does this mean? Take any product, service, organization, church or charity. We all know none of them are perfect, so each one has flaws. But yet it can be maddeningly difficult to figure out what the flaws of each are. Advertising is very effective at communicating the positive attributes of various options, but sometimes, it is the downsides that matter most. That's where this wiki comes in. We'll explain why each product, service, organization or charity is inferior, in quality, in durability, in ease of use, in ethical or moral considerations, or whatever other criteria are important.

  1. You must write in the critical point-of-view.
  2. You can be specific. For example, the page about Starbucks can explain various negative attributes of the entire chain, while an article entitled Starbucks (Bend, Oregon) could be about an individual branch.
  3. This is not a forum for trolling. Serious complaints, presented in a professional manner, are required. You may not say, for example, that "McDonald's french fries suck donkey nuts". You may say, "McDonald's french fries are greasy and bland". Articles should be written from the point of view of an informed and dispassionate critic of the subject.
  4. Articles should describe and link to other sources. These sources don't have to be professional but they may not be posted on this wiki, or any other Theonosis Publishing wiki. Sources do not have to be objective but they can't just be incoherent ranting. You may use the WhyItIsTerrible subreddit to post your experiences.
  5. You may make overview pages, like external hard drives explaining the different negative qualities of various brands or other options.
  6. Detailed articles are not necessary. Feel free to link to Wikipedia or other sources for more information.
  7. Blatantly false complaints or criminal allegations will be removed (e.g. "There's rat poison in the lo mein"), unless it is very well-sourced. This is not a whistle-blowing site. You may say, for example, "Union Carbide killed thousands of Indians", so long as you also link to sources for it.
  8. If a complaint is a fact that has been disproven or rendered irrelevant, it will be removed. If a complaint is an opinion, it will be kept in most circumstances no matter what.
  9. Articles should be written as though the target audience is consumers, donors, investors and employees.
  10. Pseudoscientific, religious, and superstitious complaints can be documented but must be labelled as such.
  11. Celebrities, bands and sports teams are acceptable fodder for articles and we can link to plain old bad reviews of their movies, albums, etc, provided they are significant and in depth. Pointless vitriol and ranting are not okay.
  12. Don't make pages that have nothing but a philosophical objection to an entire category of items. For example, some people are opposed to Western medicine, and it's fine to include that in relevant articles, but don't make articles on angioplasty and chemotherapy with nothing but general philosophical objections that apply equally to all of Western medicine. If you
  13. We can set a pretty low bar for complaints but outright racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic and similar objections are not acceptable (e.g. "Popeye's has too many black people"). Note that articles on countries and regions are fine, and this rule won't be interpreted to ban complaints about, for example, the rudeness of New Yorkers or the moral objections to Israel (e.g. "Israel oppresses Palestinians" is fine/"Israel has too many Jews/Arabs" is not fine).
